Circa 1810
Roman design chairs. A stylish pair of decorated chairs with gilt decoration on a cream ground, are of the Regency period. The library chairs each stamped 'TR'.  Thomas Reynolds on the underside of the beech framed seat rails. This Roman design was hugely popular in the Regency period, all stylish interiors had connections with Roman. Its was part of the Educated elite and wealthy families to travel to Rome and experience the Grand Tour. This chair maker Thomas Reynolds is recorded in the Dictionary of English Furniture Makers 1660 - 1840: page 738. Re-decorated. English 1810.

I have had the seats are covered in a Mariano Fortuny silk fabric
