19th century papier mache tray on stand

19th century papier mache tray on stand
Circa 1810
An early 19th century black ground and gilt decorated rectangular papier mache tray. This Regency period tray with raised sides is supported on a later simulated bamboo legged stand, which now acts as the perfect small side table. The beautiful execution on bronze powders create lovely romantic views of houses near woodland, separated by a small bridge. and people in a boat on a river. The raised floral boarder has an abundance of roses on the inside all beautifully executed with bronze powders. Trays of this quality were often made in Wolverhampton, possibly from makers such as Henry Clay or the Walton workshop just to name two. The whole is in unrestored condition. £425. No discount!
