Circa 1815
A rare early 19th century bamboo and cane occasional table of hexagonal form. Cane work top boarded by bamboo above six trellised sides, all in the chinoiserie manner.
This style of furniture using bamboo was extremely popular in the early 19th century as it imitated the fashion for all things Chinese. The Brighton Pavilion https://bit.ly/2JcH8xh home of the Prince Regent, boasts several examples of this type of furniture.
