19th century bloodstone ewers

19th century bloodstone ewers
Circa 1840
A fine pair of museum quality bloodstone ewers or urns in the Neo Classical form, possibly by Pierre-Philippe Thomire. Both with exquisite ormolu mounted handles depicting an entwining serpent.
This beautiful Jasper green colour quartz has a deeper meaning apart from being a beautiful material, it represents vitality, strength, passion and courage. The ormolu work is absolutely outstanding.

Both are displayed on raised velvet plinth bases.
