18th century walnut tripod base table

18th century walnut tripod base table
Circa 1785
A fine 18th century walnut tripod base tilt-top table. The octagonal top is beautifully veneered.
Firstly the top is finely crossbanded in kingwood, then tulipwood, large segments of walnut, tulipwood and the centre has an inlaid star or a pointed compass. Boxwood and ebony stringing is throughout the table top.
The hand-turned central shaft has three out stretched cabriole legs, raised on small pad feet.
The whole has a fantastic patination, in what I would call, 'country house condition'.
English circa 1785.
Height 66cm; Diam 44.4cm
