A large 19th century carved Portland stone garden figure of Pan.
In ancient Greek religion and mythology, Pan was known as the god of the wild, shepherds, flocks and sexuality. He was known for his impromptu music on his pipes and was friends of nymphs. Pan became a significant figure of romance in the
Roman times which is as significant today as in the twenty first century.
The whole is beautifully weathered and made in two sections,
